Hs2 Ltd has released a report – HS2 in the West Midlands – which sets out the benefits that the project is delivering today, to businesses, people and communities across the West Midlands, which include:
- Over the last six years, HS2 has awarded over £1.7bn worth of contracts to West Midlands businesses, including £816m last year alone.
- Over 400 companies in the region have already won work on HS2.
- More than 8,800 people are currently working on HS2 in the West Midlands.
- Across the region, over 700 people who were previously unemployed and almost 400 apprentices have secured work on the project.
Alongside the report, two videos highlight the stories of the people and businesses helping to build HS2, one from a business based in the Black Country and the other from a T-level student from Walsall College.
