The devastating effects of the recent storms on the UK transport system, and especially on our rail networks, has been well documented. It has left numerous towns without power, thousands of people without access to transport, and the Devon railway quite literally suspended in mid-air.
The High Speed Rail Industry Leaders Group was created to bring together the expertise from around the railway and infrastructure industry in the UK to talk about the development of high speed rail.
Repairing storm damage and continuing to maintain and enhance the existing railway does not mean removing money from other projects. Network Rail will receive more than £21bn over the next 5 years to fund the network.
